Salesforce Customization & Sales Team Training

NFE is a custom manufacturer working with clients across a wide variety of industries, including forestry, aerospace, hydro electric, and marine.

The Problem

NFE Manufacturing had been using JobBOSS as their manufacturing management software for years, but unfortunately JobBOSS was built without a sales team in mind. As a result, the sales team was having difficulty difficulty organizing their prospects and quotes, creating sales reports, and easily access customer data on the road, as the software lacked a mobile version. They got in touch with us after they decided to use Salesforce as their CRM because of its sales features, easy reporting abilities, and mobile app. However, data migration from JobBOSS to Salesforce proved more difficult than they anticipated.

Our Approach

The project involved exporting data from JobBOSS Desktop and importing it into Salesforce, but the exported data provided a lot of information without useful insights. A manual cleanup of the exported data, thousands of accounts and contacts, would extend the project beyond budget. With this in mind, we researched the possibility of using business intelligence (BI) software to simplify the job. Our best option for BI software came with a year-long subscription and a hefty price tag. We wanted to avoid the additional cost to NFE, so we dug deeper to find a solution that would fit both time and budget. 

We contacted the JobBOSS support team for assistance. Their initial recommendations were situations we were trying to avoid for the project: upgrading to a more user friendly version of their software or using BI software. Not satisfied with these options, we persisted to find an alternative solution. Using credentials supplied by JobBOSS, we were eventually able to access the local version of the database to pull the data we required.

The Solution

Once we had a solution we made quick work of implementing it. We installed SQL Server Management Studio (SMSS), available for free from Microsoft, which gave us direct access to the database. With some basic SQL queries, we were able to perfectly format the data for import and complete Salesforce customization for NFE.

We spent a day with the NFE providing on-site sales team training for Salesforce. We also provided digital training sessions, making ourselves available to answer any questions that came up about the CRM.

The Benefits

NFE is now able to continue using JobBOSS for manufacturing management, inventory tracking and financials, while using Salesforce CRM to track accounts, contacts and sales opportunities. The Salesforce customization helps the NFE sales team stay on top of their sales process and rely on accurate reporting, allowing them to prioritize how they spend their time and allocate budget.
