Do you ever find yourself frustrated with your sales forecasting process? Sales forecasting is a vital part of many businesses, but it also requires an enormous expenditure of time and energy to perform manually. This can leave a business mired in busywork and stunt their growth. Even more frustrating, some businesses have a CRM (such as Zoho CRM) that could theoretically solve this issue, but lack the expertise to implement Zoho sales forecasting automation.
One of our clients, The SOLV Group, was one such example. Based in Indiana, The SOLV Group creates custom apparel, prints, and merchandise for B2B customers. While they had been using Zoho CRM for some time, their sales forecasting process was cumbersome and inefficient. The team often bypassed Zoho, using manual communication and spreadsheets to set annual sales goals. With thousands of clients, compiling historical sales data, creating goals, and entering them manually into the system was time-consuming, even when divided among sales reps. With all of these irritations piling up, they asked us for a solution.
The Challenges of Manual Sales Forecasting
SOLV Group’s priority was clear: streamline the forecasting process. Their existing workflow involved:
- Exporting sales and production data from a separate system
- Uploading it into Zoho Analytics
- Comparing it to client records in Zoho CRM
- Manually creating goals in spreadsheets and entering them into Zoho
This manual approach delayed goal-setting until the start of the year and left little room for agility or customization.
The Solution: Zoho Sales Forecasting Automation
We proposed an automated sales goal generation system within Zoho CRM, leveraging Zoho’s ecosystem tools:
Key Components
We devised a solution in three parts, starting with Zoho DataPrep integration. The first step was to consolidate duplicate client records into parent accounts and aggregate sales totals for all child accounts under each parent. This ensured that SOLV Group had a clean, unified view of client data before moving to the next stage.
Next, we implemented automated data matching to link external sales data with Zoho CRM accounts using client IDs. Doing this eliminated the need for manual entry by directly entering sales goals into Zoho CRM, streamlining the entire process.

Finally, dynamic goal creation automatically generated goals as soon as new sales data was available in Zoho Analytics. With this automation, SOLV Group could access 12 months of goals in advance, rather than waiting until year-end, enabling faster planning and greater agility.
Customization Options
The automated system offers flexible customization to suit SOLV Group’s strategic needs. The team can adjust goals by percentage, such as applying a +10% growth target, and configure them by account, industry, or product category. Timeframes are adaptable, allowing monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual goal setting. Additionally, they can base targets on parent accounts or assign them to individual sales representatives, giving the team complete control over how objectives are structured.
The Impact
Implementing this automated forecasting solution transformed SOLV Group’s sales planning process, delivering measurable improvements across efficiency, accuracy, visibility, and scalability.
Efficiency Gains
By eliminating hours of manual data entry and spreadsheet work, the team reclaimed valuable time to redirect toward strategic activities such as client engagement and sales planning. What previously took days could now be completed in minutes.
Improved Accuracy
Automation significantly reduces the risk of human error that comes with manual processes. With SOLV Group’s data flowing directly from Zoho Analytics into Zoho CRM, they can trust that the goals are based on accurate, up-to-date information.

Enhanced Visibility
The sales team gained immediate access to goals within Zoho CRM, creating a single source of truth for planning and reporting. This visibility allows managers to track progress in real time and make informed decisions without relying on data across fragmented spreadsheets.
Scalability
We designed this solution to grow with SOLV Group. Whether they are pulling data from Zoho Books, invoices, or external systems, they can adapt the process for any Zoho CRM user managing large volumes of sales data. This flexibility ensures long-term value as business needs evolve.
Why Forecasting Goals Matter for Zoho Users
This case demonstrates how businesses can supercharge Zoho CRM’s forecasting capabilities through automation. By integrating Zoho DataPrep and Zoho Analytics, companies can transform their goal-setting approach, saving time, improving predictability, and customizing targets to align with strategic priorities. These enhancements not only streamline operations but also empower teams to plan with confidence and better agility.
